She Shed/Tiny Home

This was by far the most exciting, challenging, and involved project in 2020. This was my FAVORITE!!

The customer asked for windows to be framed and for the knee wall to be wrapped in siding.

We framed in a small scale home build with tiny 2x4 headers over each window including the gable ends on non load bearing walls. We run new walls on top of the existing knee wall with the proper framing techniques. The previous knee wall was just studded 16 on center to support our new and small scale correct walls that are embracing the windows.

We chose to not only wrap the existing knee wall with beveled 1x8 pine siding but to actually run siding up to the roof line around the entire build.

We wrapped each window (23 total) and the door with 1x2.5 inch pine that was ripped down from a 1x12 pine board.

The windows were set in with 0.5 inch x 0.5 inch strips to hold them into place.

3 of the 23 total windows were installed with hinges, latches, and make shift locks to make them function.

Last but not least we added a 5x12 deck to tie it into its habitat. The deck was “picture framed” to add extra style to the already amazing project.
